J.B. Hunt honors 69 drivers for their safe driving.
J.B. Hunt Transport Services Inc. held its Million Mile Celebration on Tuesday, honoring 69 drivers for driving between 2 million and 4 million miles without a preventable accident.
Drivers, their families, and fellow J.B. Hunt employees gathered at the company’s headquarters in Lowell, Arkansas, to celebrate their accomplishments. Corporate colleagues waited in line to greet the drivers as they made their way to an honorary lunch, which culminated in an awards ceremony with company officials.
Drivers were paid almost $900,000 in safety bonuses at the event, and J.B. also recognized its first female driver, Edwina, for achieving 3 million safe miles.
“This is one of our favorite events of the year.” It takes a lot of patience and dedication to drive 2 million or more safe miles, and we’re honored to recognize the men and women who go above and beyond every day to ensure J.B. Hunt remains one of the safest fleets on the road,” said Nick Hobbs, the company’s chief operating officer and president of contract services.
J.B. Hunt launched its Million Mile program in 1996 and recognized its employees’ accomplishments for the first time in 2001 at its headquarters.

Walmart provides $10,000 to charity in the vicinity of its new distribution hub.
Walmart recently established a $220 million import distribution center in Ridgeville, South Carolina, which will act as a hub for more than 850 regional Walmarts and Sam’s Clubs. The plant is located close to the Port of Charleston.
“We know our clients rely on us for a diverse selection, and this new import distribution center will provide us with extended access to seaports, allowing us to offer a diverse range of items from around the world.” We also try to be a community store and are happy of how we’ve been able to leverage our supply chain investments to promote economic opportunities and jobs in the Dorchester County area,” said Mike Gray, Walmart’s senior vice president of supply chain operations.
During the distribution center’s official opening ceremony on April 22, Jeff Holzbauer, Walmart general manager of the new DC, said that Walmart would donate $10,000 to a local charity, Going Places, which buys bicycles for children in need.
